In just a few years, NVIDIA (NVDA) has become the world’s third-largest company by market capitalization, driven by surging demand for its graphics processing units (GPUs) for artificial intelligence. NVIDIA GPUs—especially the H100 and B200 series—have become the go-to standard for training large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.
For prop firm traders, NVIDIA is one of the most active and closely watched stocks on the Nasdaq. Its volatility of 10 to 30 USD per day (and sometimes much more around earnings) creates exceptional trading opportunities. NVIDIA earnings are among the year’s biggest market events, with post-earnings moves regularly exceeding 10%.
NVDA’s catalysts are directly tied to developments across the AI industry: new GPU announcements (Blackwell and Rubin architectures), orders from hyperscalers (Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and Meta), US government export restrictions on China, and competition from AMD, Intel, and in-house chips developed by the major tech companies.
NVIDIA’s high valuation makes the stock particularly sensitive to changing market perceptions of how sustainable AI demand will be. Pullbacks can be swift and steep—NVDA lost 17% in a single day in January 2025 following the release of DeepSeek by a Chinese startup.
On TopTraderPrime, you can trade NVDA during the US session with a spread of 0.10 and leverage of 1:20.
