NZDJPY is a cross pair that combines the New Zealand dollar, a high-yield currency sensitive to commodities, with the Japanese yen, a low-yield safe-haven currency. This contrast makes the pair highly sensitive to global market risk appetite.
Like AUDJPY, NZDJPY is often used as a market sentiment indicator. In risk-on conditions—when stock markets are rising and economic optimism is strong—investors sell the yen to buy the Kiwi. During periods of stress, the reverse flow can trigger fast, sharp moves.
For prop firm traders, NZDJPY offers moves of 60 to 90 pips per day, with solid trend-following opportunities. The pair is most active during the Asian session (1h-9h CET), given New Zealand and Japan’s geographic proximity. Economic releases from both countries can prompt pronounced reactions.
Key catalysts include Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) decisions, New Zealand employment and inflation data, Bank of Japan (BoJ) interventions or monetary policy decisions, and Chinese economic data, which indirectly influence the Kiwi through trade.
On TopTraderPrime, NZDJPY is available with a 0.30 pips spread and leverage up to 1:100.
